Hyundai Electronics Industries has poached a senior IBM executive to run the new semiconductor company which will result from the merger of its own chip making division with LG Semiconductor Co. Park Sang-ho, currently an IBM vice president, will head the semiconductor operation while the current division head, Kim Young-hwan is being make chief executive of the both the chip and industrial electronics divisions. The two divisions are to be separated after the

merger with LG Semicon is completed in mid-October. Park has 25 years experience in the high-tech electronics industry, having worked for both Hewlett-Packard and IBM.
