Japanese manufacturers have been chary of transferring technology to South Korean companies, seeing them as potentially lethal competitors, but Fujitsu Ltd has taken the plunge, and is to provide Hyundai Electronic Industries Co with the design and manufacturing secrets of its small and medium-sized digital PABXs with support for up to 400 lines: the agreement runs for six years and Hyundai hopes to make 3,400 in the first four years, some of which may be re-exported back to Fujitsu for marketing to Japanese users.
