Hyperion ports System 9 to latest Opteron chips

Hyperion Solutions Corp has ported its System 9 integrated business intelligence and performance management platform onto Advanced Micro Devices Inc's newest Opteron 64-bit processors. AMD has also joined Hyperion's partner program.

By CBR Staff Writer

The announcement comes as Hyperion puts the finishing touches onto new 64-bit versions of its System 9 Essbase Analytics and Enterprise Analytics software designed for AMD64 Windows.

Hyperion said in a statement that customers running BI and PM applications on Windows will realize dramatic productivity improvements.

Tests show a 50% reduction in processing time for some Enterprise Analytics file loads when moving from current 32-bit processors to 64-bit processors, the Santa Clara, California-based company said.

Joint Hyperion and AMD customers will benefit from the 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility of Opteron processors, allowing them to run a mix of AMD processors across various analytic components of the System 9 platform.
