IBM has bolstered its DevOps portfolio with the launch of a new cloud-based DevOps service, software and infrastructure.

The latest roll out complements current 2015 predictions that more than half of CIOs will use DevOps as their key tool to deal with the speed and collapse of mobile, cloud and open-source apps.

The new service enables the integration of on-premise, private and public clouds with the collaborative DevOps capabilities required to deliver apps faster, while offering data security, control and integration required by major firms.

IBM Software Group Rational General Manager Kristof Kloeckner said: "Software success is increasingly indistinguishable from business success.

"IBM is helping clients harness the collaborative power of the cloud to deliver business outcomes that can compete on the highest levels of agility, speed and collaboration — regardless of the current size or complexity of the organisation."

The service will enable organisations to assess and benchmark their readiness for DevOps and enable strategy planning. The new enhanced software and services will enable businesses to manage software development; extend mainframe development and testing to the cloud; enable the rapid design, deployment and modernise full-stack, hybrid clouds.
