The move will dramatically expand its current store network to 150 stores by the end of 2006. 3G hopes to have the majority of units converted before the crucial Christmas trading period. 3G, which currently lags behind rivals Vodafone and O2, is aiming to develop a comprehensive network across the UK.

The stores should enable the mobile phone company to strengthen relationships with current customers and serve new customers more efficiently.

The stores will be in prime retail locations, promoting entertainment products such as music and TV.
