Hummingbird Communications Ltd, based in Markham, Ontario, has announced NFS Maestro Version 5.1, a new version of its Network File System product line. Designed for seamless access between personal computer networks and host computer systems including Unix, VMS, Macintosh and IBM Corp mainframes, NFS Maestro enables personal computer users to access file and printer services across the network. The new version includes a new Telnet application supporting Object Linking & Embedding Automation Controllers to enable objects to be linked and embedded. Also new in the package is Columbus Lite, a selection of Internet access and productivity capabilities such as a Web browser, SMTP electronic mail, News Reader and the Columbus NetBook for organizing Internet resources. Version 5.1 provides TN5250 terminal emulation, enhanced 32-bit file locking for multivendor environments, improved drag and drop File Transfer Protocol application, enhanced NIS support for easier central administration and new Socks V4 security. The package also includes the company’s Sconfig feature, enabling customization of the installation process. NFS Maestro Version 5.1 is available now, at $500 for a single copy.
