Huawei, a provider of telecommunications network offerings, has unveiled the IDEOS X5 smart device featuring email, document, and calendar management tools and the Android 2.2 OS.

The new X5 is a touchscreen smartphone that offers high speed connectivity through HSPA and WiFi 802.11n, enabling professionals to stay connected at all times and places.

The smartphone has 4GB memory and a SD card slot that allows more applications to be installed and stored; comes with a 5MP camera; 720p high-definition video recording; and playback features.

The company said that the IDEOS X5 is the newest smartphone in the IDEOS portfolio of smart devices.

Huawei device chief marketing officer Victor Xu said the Huawei IDEOS X5 smartphone offers a perfect blend of style and technology that allows busy professionals to respond to work issues in real time while staying connected with loved ones and having fun at the same time.

The company said that the IDEOS X5 will be available in Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand from January 2011, with other countries to follow.
