Huawei is offering a new ‘Maximizing Network Energy Efficiency’ methodology, which aims to help customers improve network energy efficiency.

Introduced at MWC 2015, the methodology is based on three steps, including network efficiency assessment, efficiency improvement and efficiency management, that cover energy consumption optimisation and utilisation across equipment and networks.

The efficiency assessment helps customers to analyse the Energy Utilisation Ration in their networks and identify gaps compared with benchmarks.

Customers can then choose from Huawei’s telecom energy solutions to improve the efficiency improvement needs on their network. Systems are also offered which can manage network energy efficiency across the whole network.

The new methodology aims to tackle the carbon emissions and environmental impact created by a huge increase of information from mobile broadband and big data.

The announcement comes at the end of a busy MWC for the Chinese telecoms giant, which also saw it introducing new consumer products such as wearables and other enterprise offerings such as the industry’s first high throughput router.
