Huawei introduces new programmable 2T WDM prototype

The prototype increases the maximum data rate by 20 times, from 100Gb/s to 2Tb/s per-channel

By CBR Staff Writer

Information and communications technology (ICT) applications provider Huawei has released a new programmable 2T WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) prototype.

The prototype increases the maximum data rate by 20 times, from 100Gb/s to 2Tb/s per-channel and expands the fibre capacity to 56Tb/s by utilising both the C and L band’s wavelengths.

Huawei’s 2T WDM prototype improves spectrum efficiency and increases the maximum transmission capacity by implementing intelligent digital signal processing and high performance adaptive-SD FEC technologies.

Along with G.652 fibre and common EDFAs, the 2T signals with 300GHz spectral width to transmit over a distance of 1,000km without electrical regeneration.

The prototype uses flex transceiver technology that enable a programmable network controller to configure parameters, achieving flexible adjustments in areas including line rates, transmission distances and transmission capacity.

Utilising flex transceiver technology, a key part of the software-defined OTN developed by Huawei, will enable the transport network to turn the resources into the programmable "resilient tunnels", and as a result, offers a flexible network and efficient system to users.
