HTC has unveiled a new smartphone that utilises the Qualcomm’s Brew MP operating system instead of either Windows Mobile or Android.
The company said that the HTC Smart is equipped with touch design and integrates HTC Sense for an intuitive user experience. It enables personal customisation of each person’s own phone experience and provides a way to connect to friends through various social networks as well as communicating over the phone, through text messaging or e-mail.
Paul Jacobs, chief executive officer of Qualcomm, said: HTC Smart breaks new ground in delivering the powerful, in-demand smartphone features that consumers want on a more accessible device for global markets.
“We are pleased to be supporting HTC as they utilise the capabilities of Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform open operating system to offer high-end capabilities and a compelling mobile user experience at mass-market price points.
HTC Smart is expected to be available this spring across Europe and Asia.
