To strengthen its software development capabilities

By CBR Staff Writer

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has acquired Paris-based custom software provider Abaxia, in a move to strengthen its software development capabilities.

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, said: “HTC is committed to creating the best possible mobile experience for our customers today, tomorrow and into the future. The addition of Abaxia deepen and broaden our software development capabilities so that we can innovate at an even faster pace.”

Abaxia is a software developer specialising in mobile handset software offerings for network operators and handset manufacturers.

Abaxia said that it has provided software for 60 different handset models across 36 countries. Its embedded offerings enable service providers to introduce a consistent interface across major handset manufacturers.

Cedric Mangaud, CEO of Abaxia, said: “HTC and Abaxia have worked closely together in the past and our businesses complement each other well. We’re excited to be joining such a significant and emerging mobile brand.”
