HSBC USA bolsters internet banking security with VeriSign

HSBC USA and VeriSign have signed an agreement for the bank to deploy the VeriSign Identity Protection Fraud Detection Service to enhance protection against identity theft and fraud for its customers.

By CBR Staff Writer

The VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) Fraud Detection Service (FDS) includes a state-of-the art risk engine that offers layered, risk-based authentication and fraud prevention capabilities.

VIP FDS runs behind the scenes, utilizing advanced anomaly detection technology, which flags potentially fraudulent activity while continuing to ensure a favorable user experience and timely delivery of services.

The software will provide HSBC USA’s internet banking customers with additional online authentication and fraud monitoring capabilities, helping to further safeguard customer information and assets. It will also enable the bank to meet specific regulatory requirements, include the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council’s guidance, by the end of the year.
