HP was unavailable for comment at the time of writing, but the deal is reported to be for finance and accounting services over seven years. HP is said to have beat off competition from Accenture, IBM, Capgemini and Indian offshore provider Genpact in order to secure the contract.

The deal is a global one and will be mainly delivered from HP’s service centers in India, China, Poland and Costa Rica.

While HP has long been expected to enter the human resources outsourcing market, so far it has concentrated on the F&A side of the BPO market and has signed up a number of clients, most notably the consumer products companies of Gillette and Proctor and Gamble.
