Hewlett-Packard Co has said it will immediately appeal the jury decision to award nearly $6.4m in damages to Colossal Graphics Inc, if the judge does not rule in HP’s favor. The company says it will contest the verdict on two of the three charges brought against it, which an HP spokesperson said had no sound legal basis. The company has formally made the decision to contest the verdicts on the charges of breach of contract and breach of good faith and fair dealing. It will not though, contest the verdict of fraud by concealment, which represents $63,000 of the damages claim. The judge’s decision is expected by early next week and HP will need to appeal before the January 1.
