Hewlett-Packard Co’s Singapore-based Chartered Silicon Partners chip manufacturing venture with Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp is going to build 0.15 micron, 0.13 and 0.1 chips for Motorola Inc using the US chipmakers’ HiperMos process, which included Motorola’s copper interconnect technology. Motorola has licensed its process design technology to CSP as part of its ongoing strategy to outsource its IC manufacturing. Motorola will get license fees and royalties from the foundries. It’s already signed Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
