HP has unveiled new line of ProBook laptops and Elite Business Desktops PC. The new offerings include the ProBook 6445b and ProBook 6545b, and the Elite 7000 Business Desktop PC.

Stephen DeWitt, senior vice president and general manager of personal systems group- Americas, HP, said: “The release of Windows 7 presents an ideal opportunity for businesses of all types to evaluate their aging fleet of client devices and build a plan to leverage the best solutions to meet their company’s needs. With a wide range of new products in the market, like the new ProBooks and Elite desktops, we have put the right pieces in place to ease the transition to new technology.”

According to HP, the new ProBook b-series laptops offer flexible battery options and a range of wireless connectivity choices. These laptops come in 14-inch or 15.6-inch diagonal high-definition LED-backlit widescreen displays, sports a smart new design that incorporates a spill-resistant keyboard with a drain and utilises new AMD processors and graphics.

The ProBook b-series includes a Power Assistant software tool that provides total visibility over the notebook PC’s reported power consumption, with tools allowing users to conserve power, stretch battery run time and monitor reported power needs. On the network level, it measures, logs and reports platform energy use to give IT departments the information needed to help save businesses money and energy, the company said.

The new HP Elite 7000 Business Desktop PC sports a sleek exterior design with a metal surface and high-gloss black finish. It comes with a Chassis Lock, Credential Manager for HP ProtectTools, Norton online backup from Symantec and HP power manager, HP said.

The company said that the new Elite 7000 comes installed with the new Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, DDR3 memory support, the Intel P55 Express chipset and a choice of the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. It supports up to 8GB of memory, a 1TB hard drive and an optional solid state drive. The series also includes an array of bays and ports, and a RAID 1 mirroring array with two hard drives that mirror data in real-time for data protection.

In addition, for data and image support, the Elite 7000 offers a SATA DVD-ROM drive, SATA SuperMulti LightScribe DVD writer drive and optional HP SATA Blu-ray writer for DVD burning and labeling. It also offers a 22-in-1 media card reader that enables transfer of photos, files and videos to a PC from various types of memory cards.

The HP ProBook b-series laptops are expected to be available worldwide on October 22, 2009, and in mid-November in the US for a starting price of $799. The Elite desktop is expected to be available on October 22, 2009, for a starting price of $789.
