Hewlett-Packard Japan Ltd and Nihon Unisys Ltd said they have hammered out an agreement for the supply and sale of PCs in the Japanese market. Under the deal, HP’s Japanese unit will supply its Unisys counterpart with low-end servers, desktop PCs and related software and peripherals, which will be sold under both companies’ brand names. The deal comes as part of the agreement reached by the US parent companies last March, in which Unisys chose HP to outsource the bulk of its hardware manufacturing following its decision to concentrate on mid-range and high-end servers (CI No 3,376).
