HP TO OUTSOURCE PHOTOMASK MANUFACTURING TO DUPONT

DuPont Photomasks Inc has acquired Hewlett-Packard Co’s photomask manufacturing organization, on undisclosed terms. In return, Round Rock, Texas-based DuPont will be HP’s strategic photomask supplier under a new long-term agreement. DPI takes HP’s equipment, and will offer jobs to HP employees. Photomasks are the method through which the precise patterning of an integrated circuit’s microscopic images onto silicon wafers. HP recently sold off printed circuit board manufacturing equipment to Altron Inc.
