HP TO MAKE LOW-END PRINTERS WITH TAIWAN’S KINPO

By CBR Staff Writer

Hewlett-Packard Co is getting into the low-end printer market for sub-$100 inkjets via a joint venture with Taiwan fax and copier manufacturer Kinpo. The jointly-developed inkjet printers, under the brand name Apollo, will use standard HP refill cartridges. They will be made at Kinpo’s factory in Thailand, which has capacity for up to 400,000 printers a month.
