Palo Alto, California-based HP will combine its support and management capabilities with NEC’s expertise in mainframe technology to offer selective managed services to full outsourcing arrangements whereby the two companies will take over the client’s IT assets and related human resources. Carly Fiorina, HP chairman and CEO, said the two companies might form joint ventures on large outsourcing projects.
HP and NEC will establish joint marketing teams to initially target clients in Japan, China and the US. The alliance is then expected to spread to Southeast Asia and Europe in the future.
