In a move toward a more cost-effective supply situation, Hewlett Packard Co has sold its Canadian Networks Operation (CNO) to McData Corp, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EMC Corp. Based in North York, Ontario, CNO manufactures Fiber Channel enterprise switches. HP and McData also announced the signing of a long-term OEM agreement under which HP will buy Fiber Channel switches from McData. According to HP, the new arrangement allows each company to focus on its core competencies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
