HP originally inherited the share of the company through its takeover of Compaq, which invested in Perth-based ASG in February 2001.

According to a press release from ASG: The commercial business relationship between ASG and HP continues on a number of levels through joint tendering and multi-year contracts and is unaffected by the transaction. However, there is evidence of possible enmity between the two companies.

In a story published last week in Computerworld Australia, an ASG executive was described as scoffing at HP’s IT services ambitions in the country. ASG chief solutions officer Steve Tull is quoted as saying that federal government agencies are moving along the selective outsourcing path and are tired of multinationals.

Moreover, HP’s former sales director Jega Rajan recently left to become ASG’s chief sales and marketing officer, reportedly taking almost half of HP’s remaining business development team with him, says Computerworld.
