Hewlett-Packard Co says its new three-year storage agreement with EMC Corp (CI No 3,570) does not specifically call for it to increase sales of EMC storage systems, but points to its recent announcement to bundle EMC software with high-availability and disaster recovery services it will offer on clusters of its new high-end V2500 servers. While HP continues to OEM Data General Corp’s non Fibre Channel Clariion subsystems for the mid-range, it denies its own AutoRAID products aren’t cutting it with customers. It claims AutoRAID has advantages in operational support and high-availability. HP is about to trumpet some new research which it claims will show it has the largest share of the installed Fibre Channel base.
