For the third quarter of 2006, HP captured 17.7% of the market, followed by Dell with 17.4%. Acer came in third, with 11.8% market share, followed by Toshiba and Lenovo, at 10.7% and 8.2% respectively.

On a regional basis, HP led sales in Latin America and the Asia Pacific region. Dell was top dog in North America, while Acer led the EMEA region.

Overall the laptop market grew 19% from Q2 2006 and 29% year-over-year from Q3 2005. Acer posted the strongest growth of all manufacturers, with 39% sequential growth and 49% growth year-over-year.
