HP OFFERS PA-8500 AS WORKSTATION BOARD UPGRADE

By CBR Staff Writer

Hewlett-Packard Co will today unveil its latest PA-8500 RISC chip as a board upgrade solution for the Visualize C200 and C240 HP-UX graphics workstations, claiming they deliver 70% better performance than existing systems. Users require the latest version of HP-UX 10.20 and boards will be available from January 1 priced from $8,000 – a 30% discount applies for orders before the end of the year. We wonder how HP’s server folk feel. They were supposed to get first dibs on the PA-8500.
