HP & NETSCAPE TEAM TO TARGET ISPS & TELCOS

By CBR Staff Writer

Hewlett-Packard Co has become the latest high-profile company to sign on as reseller of software from Netscape Communications Corp. The two companies will be targeting ISPs and telcos looking to deploy internet access systems. HP will sell Netscape’s SuiteSpot Hosting Edition, including Netscape messaging server hosting edition 4.0 and the two companies will also establish a center of expertise at Netscape’s Mountain View headquarters to enable ISPs to optimize the performance of Netscape software and HP’s Smart Internet software on HP’s Domain Internet A- and R- class Unix servers and its LPR and LXR 8000 Intel-based Windows NT boxes. The Smart Internet software does usage tracking and billing, among other things.
