Hewlett-Packard Co has made its Praesidium VirtualVault trusted web-server secure against the Millennium bug via a one- time free upgrade. Version 3.5 is available immediately to all VirtualVault customers, whether or not they have a support agreement. Not surprisingly, HP’s Internet Security Division strongly encourages all customers to install the upgrade as soon as possible.

This free upgrade reflects HP’s commitment to help its customers reduce the business risks associated with the year 2000 date roll-over, especially those who use this security product to protect business-critical applications, such as internet banking, said general manager Robert Medrano in a statement. Medrano did not explain why earlier versions of VirtualVault were apparently not Y2K compliant.
