Hewlett-Packard Co has been overwhelmed with demand for toner cartridges for the LaserJet 5Si family of laser printers, and they are in critically short supply in the US as people increasingly resort to producing multiple copies on the printer rather than photocopying them. The company is working with its supplier to triple its output of cartridges – the existing production line has adding an extra shift, and two new lines are due to come on stream. One is due later this month, the other in early March – neither of which helps if you are out of toner now, so HP has set up a toll-free number at 800 538-8787 and customers can use major credit cards to order up to two cartridges for next-day delivery.
