Hewlett-Packard Co’s junking CA-Ingres as the database repository for its OpenView IT/Operations and IT/Administration systems and network management environment in favour of Oracle. From August 1 HP will bundle an Oracle7 database for storing event information on the Unix systems OpenView supports. A Windows NT version of IT/Operations is due early 1998 for which Oracle, in addition to SQL Server will be available, the company says. Customers can move from CA-Ingres to Oracle-based products free of charge.
