Hewlett-Packard Co and Epson America Inc have introduced lower- priced laser printers aimed at the small-to-midsize workgroup market. HP reduced the price of its color laser printer with the introduction of the Enhanced HP Color LaserJet 5/5M printers. The new printers replace the HP Color LaserJet 5 family with models that are priced 31% lower than their predecessors and offer photo printing that is five times faster. The Enhanced LaserJet 5 and 5M are expected to sell for $4,000 and $5,200 respectively. Epson introduced two new black-and-white laser printers, the EPL-N1200, capable of 12 pages per minute, and the EPLN2000, capable of 20 pages per minute – priced at $1,100 and $1,900 respectively. The new products from both companies are available now through their usual distribution channels.
