HP AND COMPUTER ASSOCIATES BUNDLE TNG FOR JAPAN

By CBR Staff Writer

Hewlett-Packard Co will ship a Japanese version of Computer Associates International Inc’s Unicenter TNG Framework with its L series NetServers, heralding the system’s introduction into the Japanese market. As usual, the TNG Framework, which forms the foundation on which to build a systems management offering, will be free. The NetServers will also be equipped with Hewlett- Packard’s TopTools management software, which is fully integrated with Unicenter TNG. TopTools includes a web-based management application that will plug into most standards-based management systems. The companies anticipate the combination of the products will enable Japanese businesses to reduce the cost of owning a server, but at the same time improve the availability and performance of network applications. The bundling of the products extends an existing strategic relationship the companies have, and marks the introduction of the systems into the Japanese market.
