The deal is worth up to $50m over the next five years and will begin with the construction of a wide area network which will connect the company’s locations, and provide secure access to the internet.

Frode Strand, senior vice president of IT at Aker Kvaerner, said that the deal would realize significant savings. He added, Our data and communications infrastructure had been fragmented, and although we have made many improvements over the last years, selecting a single global partner affords much lower rates, globally consistent service levels and a flexible contract structure that includes use of benchmarking to guarantee year-on-year savings.
