The announcement, to be delivered at the MySQL users conference, adds MySQL to a short list that includes Red Hat and SuSE Linux, plus the Connexitor open source LDAP directory from Symas.
HP’s support includes consulting and training services delivered by a global force of over 6500 consultants, and training at 80 sites worldwide. It includes planning, design, integration and ongoing support, a package of offerings that is equivalent to what HP already offers for commercial offerings like Oracle. The MySQL announcement marks the first time that HP has added a database to the open source support list.
