HP shows off first commercial Helion Openstack software

Helion Development Platform and Helion Content Depot.

By Amy-Jo Crowley

HP launched the commercial version of its Helion OpenStack software for building private clouds alongside a new development platform designed to run on top of it.

The latest version of the Helion software is based on Juno, the recently released latest version of the OpenStack framework.

The hardware giant also announced the Helion Development Platform, which also combines OpenStack integrated with open source Cloud Foundry capabilities.

Both offerings come with round-the-clock technical support in 32 languages, which includes support for programming languages Java, Ruby, Node.js, PHP, Python and Perl.

There’s also a selection of databases such as MySQL, PostegreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, Memcache and Trove alongside a community of some 2,500 developers.

Other features include the Helion Developer Network that aims to encourage collaboration with the Helion community and HP Helion

Ready, which HP said allows ISV and SaaS solution providers to earn Helion certification.
