HP, Red Hat introduce joint consulting services

To increase systems performance while lowering operating expenses

By CBR Staff Writer

HP and Red Hat, a provider of open source offerings, have started joint consulting services to help clients migrate to a Red Hat open source platform on an HP infrastructure.

According to HP, the transition from Solaris to Red Hat Enterprise Linux enables clients to leverage industry-standard servers to reduce operating costs and increase flexibility.

Additionally, clients migrating from legacy SPARC/Solaris environments to open source and industry-standard alternatives can increase systems performance while lowering operating expenses.

Through this collaboration, HP technology services and Red Hat join to design an HP based infrastructure plan, using Red Hat’s expertise in Linux and virtualisation to meet a client’s long-term growth needs. Migration from Solaris-based platforms to the HP ProLiant servers benefits clients.

Further, these collaborative services are supported by migration expertise that can help reduce total cost of ownership by up to 50% compared to the support, maintenance, operation and replacement expenses accrued on legacy systems.

Arthur Filip, vice presiden for Consulting, Technology Services at HP, said: "Clients need to increase the performance of their systems to remain flexible for future growth.
