HP introduces new servers to accelerate application performance

HP ProLiant Generation 8 servers increase compute capacity per watt of energy by 70%, says the company

By CBR Staff Writer

HP has introduced new line of servers, the HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8), built with more than 150 client-inspired design features.

These features are said to accelerate application performance and also allow administrators to maximise server availability by eliminating common problems that cause failures, downtime and data loss, said the company.

HP ProLiant Gen8 triples administrator productivity by eliminating most manual operations such as server updates, which take five hours of administrator time per rack of servers.

In addition, the new server lineup features HP 3-D Sea of Sensors, a technology that identifies over utilised servers based on real-time location, power, workload and temperature data, increasing compute capacity per watt of energy by 70%, the company said.

Gen8 servers include Integrated Lifecycle Automation which speeds application deployment and improves uptime by automating manual tasks and includes Dynamic Workload Acceleration that improves data-intensive storage performance by almost seven times with a converged server and storage design that leverages HP solid-state technologies.

The Proactive Service and Support enables clients to achieve a 95% first time issue resolution rate with HP Insight Online, a cloud-based, IT management and personalised support portal.

HP Industry standard Servers and Software senior vice-president and general manager Mark Potter said the skyrocketing cost of operations in the data centre is unsustainable, and added that enterprises are looking to HP to help solve this problem.
