HP has announced a new, updated line of Z Workstation computers with higher -speed memory as it tries to future-proof customers’ investments.
The Z Desktops and ZBooks are targeted at compute-intensive industries like graphic design, architecture and finance, and the new range of desktops run on the latest Intel Xeon processors.
The Z840, Z640 and Z440 desktops also feature NVIDIA and AMD graphics, while the ZBook 15 G2 and 17 G2 Mobile Workstations feature optional Intel quad-core processors.
Ori Bergman, director of commercial and retail solutions at HP EMEA, said: "HP continues to invest in technology that allows our customers to push the limits of innovation when designing everything from running shoes to managing billions of dollars of tradable securities."
The new line of HP Z Workstations use Thunderbolt 2 for faster throughput of large files, and a host of HP software including HP Z Turbo Drive to help eliminate storage bottlenecks, HP Performance Advisor for system monitoring and HP Remote Graphics Software for remote collaboration.
While Windows 7 and 8.1 are the standard operating system options, HP also supports Linux, including Ubuntu.
The desktop Workstations should be available in the UK from the middle of October from £950, while the ZBooks will be priced up from £1,050 and available around the same time. Prices exclude VAT.
