Those who were hoping to see a hot IBM launch live during the Superbowl American Football championship coverage on TV over the weekend had a long wait – only to be disappointed: the IBM ads only came up during the post mortem after the match was over and the Giants had won – and then were only for typewriters and for the Convertible lap-top, angled for schools, which will have some people hazarding that IBM may have decided against launching the bottom-end 8086 schools and mass market machine and will recast the Convertible in that role instead.
