Richard Rosser, the former marketing manager of Tandy Computers in the UK has joined Vtech Electronics Ltd, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, as sales and marketing director. VTech Electronics Ltd is a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based Video Technology International, (Holdings) Ltd, which specialises in electronic educational toys and personal computers. The company has 4,000 employees in four main divisions: Original Equipment Manufacture, Plastic Technology, which manufactures plastic casings, Electronics, which produces electronic educational aids, and now claims to have a 40% share of the American market, and Computers, which designs, manufactures and assembles its own Laser range of XT, AT and Apple IIe compatible personal computers. In 1987, VTech International Ltd acquired Central Point Software Inc and opened offices in England. This expansion lead to a turnover of $170.2m in 1988, with the turnover for 1989 forecast at $300m. Richard Rosser has been brought in by VTech to market the Laser line of personal computers in the UK. These will include models which use the 80286 processor, and the 80386 processor and a range of lap-top computers.
