Hong Kong Telecommunications Ltd plans to launch a video-on-demand service in October 1995, director of multimedia services William Lo said: the phone company will start a nine-month trial of the service early next month at 50 to 100 homes drawn from the employees of Hong Kong Telecom and its partners; it plans to offer about 100 hours of programming at any one time; a second trial, starting in late November or early December, is aimed at assessing customer demand patterns and will involve about 400 households from a cross section of income groups, who will be offered about 200 hours of programming.
