As more companies turn to the internet to serve customers overseas, Hong Kong tax officials are growing uneasy of the tax loopholes electronic commerce provides. Inland Revenue Deputy Commissioner Agnes Sin said transactions done through the net could escape Hong Kong’s tax, which is ironic in view of the government having encouraged the private sector to pioneer e- commerce.
