Mark Kroese, VP of marketing at Pure Networks, told ComputerWire that the company expects to double in size this year. He also revealed that there is a new product in the pipeline, which will be capable of managing all devices on a home network.

Its existing Port Magic software is designed for network port configuration and management. While no firm release date has been set, the new product should be available early in 2005.

Port Magic automatically configures and monitors internet gateways and routers. It is compatible with most routers including Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, Microsoft, and SMC Networks.

The market for home networking products is expected to more than double over the next four years, according to data released on Monday by In Stat/MDR. The analyst estimates that demand will have reached $17.1bn by 2008, compared to its current level of $8.3bn. Demand has been driven not only by the widespread increase of residential broadband access, but also by the popularity of wireless LAN in the home.
