@Home Network Inc, the internet-over cable company that recently went public with a highly successful flotation is now offering its subscribers eight internet radio station channels. The Redwood City, California company reckons this is something of a breakthrough for the web because of the speed its network operates. A combination of @Home’s cable modems and Progressive Networks Inc’s Real audio streaming technology will enable users to download music at speeds of up to 80 Kbps, against the 28Kbps that most users have already. The company has put a new feature on its service called Tune-In that features eight channels of different types of music through its partners NetRadio network and TheDJ Network. In addition to these, @Home is planning to offer live music and news radio through link-ups with N2K Music boulevard, CNet Radio, CBS Sportsline.
