US IT contractors are probably unaware that they have wiped millions off the value of UK-based Delphi Group and brought distress to thousands of investors. Delphi, the computer services company, blamed a poor fourth quarter on too many contractors in the US taking their holiday entitlements – thus reducing the hours it could charge clients. Delphi is reluctant to explain how it could make this misjudgement – presumably it assumed that contractors are so well rewarded that they would never want to take holidays. On the other hand, what’s the point of earning all that money if you don’t get the occasional opportunity to enjoy it?
