HITACHI US MAINFRAME SALES DECLINE

By CBR Staff Writer

Hitachi Ltd reportedly exported 70% of its mainframes to the US through its Hitachi Data Systems Ltd unit in its fiscal 1997, which amounts to 1,195 units. That’s when the Skyline series was way ahead of the performance of IBM Corp’s CMOS mainframes. It’s believed the number fell to around 1,000 last year due to the improved performance of IBM’s G Series processors.
