HITACHI TO USE SEMICONDUCTORS FROM INTEL, TEXAS I

Hitachi Ltd will use semiconductors from Intel Corp and Texas Instruments Inc in new home appliances, a company official told Dow Jones unattributably: the commitment is for $2m of chips in fiscal 1989, for video recorders and air conditioners as a test case to see whether US chips came up to scratch.
