Hitachi Ltd has reviewed its personal computer strategy and decided to use IBM’s Micro Channel Architecture in its 32-bit B 16 family of personal computers for its high-speed transmission capability, and will also work with Fujitsu Ltd on a common software specification so that programs written for either company’s machines can be used on the other as well: the OS/2 based operating system will be available from the latter part of next year will come with Presentation Manager and a Japanese device driver to be specified jointly with Fujitsu; and capitalise on all its effort, Hitachi also plans to strengthen its marketing network for personal computers.
