Hitachi Ltd plans to increase production of 1M-bit dynamic RAMs to over 1m a month from the current 700,000, and 50% to 60% will be fast ones with access times of 80nS: the company hopes to gain a larger share of the 1 M-bit market – it is already supplying US manufacturers with memory chips, and expects to sign long term contracts for the faster ones as well; it will also begin assembly of the parts at its US plant from September.
