HITACHI TAKES LICENCE FOR IBM’S PROPRIETARY BUS

Hitachi Ltd has been muttering for months about the Micro Channel, now the giant has become the first Japanese company to take a licence for IBM’s proprietary bus, for use in Hitachi’s 32-bit B16 series – but the royalty it will have to pay to IBM for rights to the bus is expected to make other Japanese companies seek shelter on the rival EISA bus.
