Tokyo based Hitachi Ltd is moving to strengthen its multimedia and its information systems businesses in the corporate market by reorganizing its Information Systems Group and Consumer Products & Information Media Systems Group into three new groups. The changes will take effect in February. The new groups will be Information Systems Group, Information Media Systems Group and Consumer Products Group. The Information Media Systems Group will handle demand in multimedia market, which Hitachi expects will expand rapidly with the current rise of digitization of information, communication and broadcasting. In addition, Hitachi said the spread of the internet and multimedia technology is speeding up the networking of corporations and the home and it now hopes to focus more efficiently on this market. The Consumer Products Group will handle audio-visual products and home appliances, while the Information Systems Group will focus on systems integration of enterprise systems and service provider business. This will include multimedia content business and business media service for inter-corporate electronic commerce transactions.
